Mini Rimmel London Haul - Matte and more!

So sorry for being gone for nearly a month!
It doesn't feel like it's been that long but it has. I moved back to uni and got super busy. While I've had post ideas, I just haven't had the time to write and post them. I'm going to try and get sorted and post things more regularly. I just don't know how regularly yet. Maybe I need a daily or weekly blogging challenge or just set a day or two a week where I have to post? I will organise my schedule soon. Anyway, it's haul time!

I love Rimmel make up because it's so affordable and works well and I've recently had a little spending spree on Rimmel products because I couldn't resist. They are generally worth it so I thought I'd test some new products by them. Yaaaayy.

First I managed to find the Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eye Shadow in 004 Smokey Blue. It includes a white, light grey and two darker blue-ish toned greys. I love this quad because you can mix up which colours you blend together and there's also a handy smokey eye guide on the back if you're unsure what to put where. I also like wearing the #1 and #3 shades separately if I'm in a bit of a rush. It's quick and easy which is always a plus. The applicator that came with it is terrible to use though, so I just used a different eye shadow brush. I also found this in the pound shop yet when I looked online apparently it's RRP is £6.99. I personally wouldn't pay that price so I'm super happy I got it for £1.

I have also been wanting to try the matte trend for a while and when I found out about new matte shades of Apocalips I got to Superdrug as soon as possible. I've owned two apocalips lacquers, big bang and apocaliptic and I loved both. The new matte apocalips are "Lip Velvet" rather than lacquers and comes in five shades. I picked up the red "505 Burning Lava" and I love it. It's not as matte as I thought it would be (there's still a subtle shine) but I like that saying as this is my first matte lip product and I wasn't sure if it would suit me or not. I would recommend this if you're wanting to try the matte lip but aren't sure because it's good and it's reasonably priced at £6.49.

I'm carrying on the matte trend now. I couldn't help it. I love nail polishes yet realised I have never owned any matte polishes and they have been around for a while. So I picked up a Rimmel Velvet Matte in 014 Sumptuous Red. It's a lovely shade that's perfect for autumn. I also prefer this type of bottle compared to other Rimmel nail polishes, but this one it slightly more expensive at £4.49.

And because I spent over £10 on Rimmel products I was given a free Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara. I haven't tried this before for no reason particular, I'd just not really noticed it. I'm not a huge fan of the packaging but I'm not going to judge. I'll give it a go for free when it should be £7.99!

This was an offer I got at Superdrug but I also saw that Boots are doing it as well. Not sure how long for, but if you know and like this mascara and want some other make up I recommend going asap!
I love all the new autumn/winter make up coming in to stores now. What do you think of these products? Is there any other new products you would recommend?
Let me know in the comments :)

To Read Books 2014: Part 1

I have a fairly decent collection of books, however since starting university I've had a bit of a reading block. As much as I want to read, I've been starting and not finishing books a lot over the past couple of years. And it's not because I don't like them. Some of them are amazing.

I just keep getting busy and not making time for reading, then I'll lose my place. And then there's the fact I am still buying books and ebooks I want to read and then not reading those. So my to read list is getting longer and longer and there's so many other books that I want to add to it but I need to get through a few of these first.

I'm naming this post as "Part 1" because these are just the books at home, which is where I am at the moment. I have more at my university house and then, knowing me, I probably have others that I've forgotten about or I'm about to buy because I can't help myself.
On to the books!
  1. Gone Girl By Gillian Flynn - I've been wanting to read this book for at least a couple of years now and I received it as a gift for Christmas. And now there's the film adaptation coming out soon too, so this is pretty high priority on the to read list. I like a bit of a mystery and apparently this book has that.

Music Mondays! George Ezra and Fall Out Boy

I like a lot of music so I thought I'd do a new little series about music I've been loving lately.
I have a few different types of these posts planned so hopefully there will be something for everyone.

For the past couple of months I have been loving George Ezra's new Album, Wanted On Voyage.
A Bristol based singer/songwriter, his songs are relaxing catchy folk-ish pop that he sings beautifully with his deep, rich voice. I'm finding it a perfect album for the summer as I love listening to chilled indie/folk/pop at this time of year with the sun shining and Autumn about to begin.

Budapest, his d├ębut single, is probably his most well-known song and reaching number 3 in the UK charts.
A selection of tracks from his album could become great hit singles. Basically, I love all of them.

Hopefully as time goes on he'll get more recognition that he does deserve.

Another newer track I want to talk about is the new Fall Out Boy song. I am a big Fall Out Boy fan, I was lucky enough to see them live earlier this year. So a new song made me super excited. It was released today and it did not disappoint.

Classic FOB! I love it! This song is going to be on repeat a lot.
I love finding new music coming out.
What songs have you been loving lately?
What new singles or albums are you excited for in the next few months?

University Tips

Saying as I'm about to start my third year of university I thought I'd make a little university survival guide post for any newbies. It can be a pretty nervous time, at least it was for me, so I wanted to write a little post that might help just one person who's about to head off into the big wide world of uni student life.

This is all based on my own personal experiences and views so things might not apply to everyone. I'm just thinking of things that would of helped me in my situation. I moved to a city a few hours away from home into a student flat just for some background. Second year I lived in a seven person house with my friends and this year I'm in a five person house with generally the same people. Anyway I'll get on to the tips now.

August Favourites 2014

Thought I'd do a little August favourites post because why not recommend a few things and say what I've been loving this month?

Let's Begin!

- One thing definitely making the list is the Starbucks Blackberry Mojito Tea Lemonade drinks. I slowly became addicted to them during my time in America.

Back to business!

I am back from my month long adventure around America and hopefully recovered enough from jetlag to start blogging again. My goal is to be updating at least once or twice a week now that I'm back, or more if I feel like it. I may post an American haul and a few posts about my trip, but at the moment I'm still sorting through the photos. During this posts I might also do some music recommendations or August favourites or other posts that I feel like doing.
But yes, this is just a PSA that I'm back and I'll see you soon!

Here is a selfie at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

Little Summer Beauty Haul!

Here's a little make up product haul of products I've bought recently. I've used these and recommend them all if they're things your looking for. Unfortunately I have already packed them away for my trip, so can't take photos of swatches or of the products, but oh well. These photos of the products are taken from google images and aren't mine.
First up, the Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Volum'! Mascara. It gives a pretty good coverage of my lashes and is a makes them appear bold. I also got three lip products.

Summer Clothes!

Two posts in one day. Oooo. Summer is in full swing, the weather has been lovely and hot and in a weeks time I'll be off on holiday starting my USA/Canada trip in NYC. Exciting times! With the beautiful weather and the fact I haven't been on a summer holiday abroad for about 3 or 4 years I needed to get a few new things in to boost my summer wardrobe. So here is a little selection of just some of the items I've recently purchased for my holiday.

America here I come! - A Chatty Post

This time next week I'll be on my way to New York city for the first time on my first trip to America. This is a place that has probably been in my top 3 places I've was to visit since I was about six or seven. And now I'm twenty. Let's just say that it's been a long time coming and I'm so very excited it's finally happening.

Baking Bread

Today I had the urge to bake something dough based.
Not sure why, because I rarely bake anything other than cakes or cookies.
But here are the finished products.

Two hot dog buns and two cheese and tomato buns.

Moving houses

We have moved from second year uni house to third year uni house this week. It has been a bit hectic, there's still things that need sorting and I'm trying to find more space in my smaller than I'm used to room for all my clothes and books and DVDs and other stuff.

TV Time: In The Flesh

Summer is the time I tend to jump on the bandwagon late to TV shows that I have been meaning to watch but never got around to. Last summer I was marathoning Orphan Black and Breaking Bad, both fantastic shows that I'm really glad I watched. This summer I plan on catching up on more series I've been missing  and this week I decided to start (and finish) In The Flesh.

Last Summer

As this is the beginning of my last summer before my last year of university, I have decided to create this blog to document what I get up to, what I am loving and hating and other general thoughts and views from my perspective in life at this point of having 20 years of life experience.

I can't help but think of this as my "last summer" before things get serious and I have to go off into the big wide world and look for (or hopefully already have) a stable job. I know in the grand scheme of things I will have other summers with time off to relax and do whatever I feel like but because I know I'll never have this much free time and be this young again it feels weirdly final?

But it shouldn't feel final and I know it won't be so I'm going to ignore all of that. I have exciting plans for this summer. I've already completed some work experience on a TV pilot and hopefully I'll find more. I'm moving to a different uni house next week. I have time to see and hang out with all my friends. I'll most likely be watching lots of films and TV shows. I'm also taking a trip to America and Canada for the first time and seeing some family there so that should be really fun. And I'm sure I'll do more things to make the most of this summer and make it interesting. And hopefully my ramblings will make an interesting blog!

See you soon internet!
